Welcome to a new school year at Thompson Elementary!

26-27 Student Enrollment

Dear Thompson Elementary Families,

As we begin preparing for an exciting new school year, we are planning for student enrollment and staffing for next year. If your child will not be returning to Thompson Elementary for the upcoming school year, please let us know as soon as possible.

This information helps us plan and prepare to best support all of our students and families.

Tuesday, August 11 is First Day of School!

Upcoming Dates

August 10 - PreK and Kinder Preview Day!
  • 8 - 10 AM
  • This is highly encouraged so that parents/guardians will preview what students' route will be on first days of school. Parents will not be permitted to walk students to class on first day of school. So, please come on preview day!
  • Remember to send your PK and Kinder student with their lanyard daily to help with morning transitions/arrival!
August 11 - First Day of School
  • Doors open at 7:20 AM
  • As a reminder, only students will be permitted into the building. Hug Zones will be outside of the school for your first day of school photos and to send your student in the building with a staff member.
  • School Begins at 7:50 AM
August 24 - Beginning of Year Testing Begins
August 28 - FriYAY morning Assembly
  • Have students in their spirit wear!
September 1 - Parent Teacher / Volunteer Zoom [ 6:00 - 6:30 PM] *Link will be shared*
September 4 - Deadline for Device Fee
September 17 - Hispanic Heritage Event [5:00 - 6:15 PM]
September 24 - Academic Parent Info Night [5:00 PM - 6:00 PM]

Our first 30 days will build strong routines, R.I.S.E. expectations, CHAMPS, safety, and positive school culture.

Important: Dismissal Information

Help us dismiss your child safely!

IMPORTANT DISTINCTIONS:

Car Rider = Remain in Car line and stay in your car for pickup **Display your RED cartags for dismissals**

Walkers = Students that walk home.

However, For PK - 2nd Graders:
  • An adult must walk-up to pick up these younger students from door 5 [cafeteria].
  • Older Walker Siblings will be dismissed from Door 6 to walk where they need to with their younger siblings.
  • For 3rd - 5th Grade Walkers with no siblings, they will be released to walk.

If you need to change dismissal, PLEASE call front office by 2:50 PM.
 

Device Insurance Fee Due

Each student receiving a district-issued Chromebook or iPad and charger in grades PK-12 will pay an annual non-refundable device insurance fee of $20 per device.

For families with multiple students, the device insurance fee will not exceed $60.

This is a single payment for the school year designed to cover the cost of your student's first accidental device damage. If the device insurance fee is not paid by September 4, 2026, or a payment plan is not in place, families will be required to pay the full cost of device repairs and replacement in the event of damage, including for the first incident.

 

Lunch Visitors begin week of September 1

Lunch Visitors will begin September 1
Due to spacing & flow in our cafeteria, we will have specific days for each grade level to enjoy lunch with visitors (2 per student max):

  • Tuesdays: Pre-K, 1st Grade and 4th Grade
  • Wednesdays: Kinder and 5th Grade
  • Thursdays: 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade
Parents/Visitors will need to have their ID badges to scan for entry through our VERKADA system to enter campus for lunch. Please plan to attend the building with only lunch items.

Help us in planning for spacing! We have space for 12 total adults per grade level lunch.
