Home of the Tigers, J.R. Thompson Elementary serves more than 600 students in pre-k through 5th grade and is part of the John Horn High School feeder pattern. Our campus serves the Creek Crossing community and is supported by a dedicated team of 60 staff and support members.
The school is named in honor of Jay R. Thompson, a World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor who exemplified leadership and service. Mr. Thompson began his MISD career in 1960 as a civics and history teacher at Mesquite High School, later serving in several campus leadership roles. He was named principal of Tosch Elementary in 1966, a position he held until his retirement in 1985.
